Who we are
Bob's Your Uncle Drainage is a trading name of Caulfield Contractors Ltd (company no. 01698285), Little George, Queenborough Lane, Rayne, Braintree, Essex CM77 6TB. We are the controller of your personal information. Contact us at office@bobsyouruncledrainage.co.uk or on 01245 979100.
What we collect
Your name, address, phone number and email; details of the drainage problem; photos, CCTV video and reports of your drains; payment records (we don't keep card numbers: card payments are processed by our card provider); messages, and voicemail transcripts; and, if you leave one, your review.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry, and to quote, book, carry out and invoice your job: contract (or steps you ask us to take before a contract).
- To keep job and accounting records: legal obligation (tax and VAT) and legitimate interests (handling guarantee claims and disputes).
- To ask you once for a review, and to remind you about follow-up work we recommended: legitimate interests. You can opt out at any time.
- Marketing emails or texts: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Anonymised job data (drain type, problem, cause, fix, property age and area, with no names or exact addresses) to improve our pricing and service: legitimate interests.
AI assistants
Some of our admin is done by AI assistants (Claude, by Anthropic), which read and draft messages and keep job records. A person approves quotes and bookings. We don't use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
Anyone who works on your job on our behalf; our card payment provider (Tyl by NatWest); our bank; our accountant; our IT and software providers (including Google Workspace, our CircleLoop phone system, our bookkeeping software and Anthropic); our insurer and broker if there's a claim; your landlord or letting agent if they are paying for the job; and authorities where the law requires it. We don't sell your information.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK (for example in the US). Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or approved contract clauses to protect it.
How long we keep it
- Job and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
- Photos, CCTV video and reports: kept with the job record for as long as we need them for your job, any guarantee claim or any dispute, then deleted.
- Enquiries that don't become jobs: deleted once we no longer need them to reply to you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, or ask for it to be transferred. Contact us at office@bobsyouruncledrainage.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
Changes
We'll update this notice when the way we use information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
